Big things road trip day six - Bowen to Townsville

Writer: EmmaEmma

Today we had so many Big Things on the agenda!

After a tasty breakfast, we headed out of Bowen to our first stop at the Big Watermelon and Pumpkin at Gumlu. There was a fruit and veg stall set up here, so we stocked up on some fruit before we got back on the road.

We saw a sign for a lookout and decided to take a chance and follow it. We found a really great spot.

Our next stop was in Home Hill, where there were heaps of Big Things! We saw the Big Cane Cutters, Big Turtle Shell & Big Aboriginal man at the showgrounds before continuing along the main street where we found the Big Can, Big Question Mark, Big Arrow & Big Sardine Tin in the park on the main street. We almost missed it but there is a

Big Sugar Cane Stick across the road from the park.

Our next destination was Ayr where we found the Big Corn Cob and Big Mango (another one) as well as the Big Snake in Plantation park. There was a cafe right near the Big Snake, so we popped in and grabbed some lunch before continuing through to Townsville via the Big Crocodile in Nome.

In Townsville we saw the Big Brolga, Big Termite (which was someones letterbox), Big Aboriginal Elder, Big Aussie Swagman, Big Jonathan Thurston, BIg Mother Earth, Big Ned Kelly, Big Slim Dusty nd we finished our epic day of big things off at the Big Chair, which was very hard to get out of!

After a huge day we headed to our hotel and after checking in jumped in the pool to cool off. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant (wood-fired pizzas - yum!) and quite a few cocktails before heading to bed.
