Big things road trip day four - Yeppoon to Mackay

Writer: EmmaEmma

As we were staying in a backpackers there was very little chance of sleeping in! We were up early and headed into Yeppoon to find some breakfast. We picked a cafe on the corner across the road from the beach and sat outside for maximum doggo exposure. There were so many cute doggos walking past and the food was great, so we were pretty happy with our choice.

After picking up a packed lunch from Subway, as the internet said there were not going to be too many options along the way for lunch today, we headed to the Capricorn Caves.

The Capricorn Caves are really awesome! If you are up this way I absolutely would recommend them as a must do. We did the "Catherdral Cave tour" which is their most popular option. I won't spoil the surprise, but there is a spectacular ending to this tour that you need to experience!

After we left the caves we headed off to find our first big thing of the day which was the Big Crocodile on a boat in St Lawrence. We ate our lunch in a park and then continued through to the XXXX Beer can in Koumala and then onto Sarina to see the Big Cane toad.

Upon arriving in Mackay we headed to Theo Hansen park to see the Big Bulldog before continuing onto JM Mulherin memorial park to see all the Big Cartoon characters that call this park home.

Our last big thing for the day was the Big Slouch hat at the RSL memorial building.

We checked into our motel, which was across the road from the beach. We spent some time on the beach watching the tide go out before venturing back into town to pick up some delicious take away for dinner at Sorbellos Italian restaurant.
